MS Developer Studio AddIn for Windows 10 - Full description
MS Developer Studio AddIn is an extension package for Microsoft Developer Studio 5.0 and 6.0, intended for C and C++ programmers who want extra source-editing, build-time and project-management tools within the IDE. Its features bring common tasks into the development environment, from inserting reusable code to preparing a workspace backup or inspecting how preprocessor directives affect a source file.
The Define Expander shows how code changes after #define and #include directives are processed, helping developers examine preprocessor results while working on a project. The add-in can also insert reusable pieces of C or C++ code at the current editing position. For project safety, it archives a workspace as a ZIP file with a single action. Another command can terminate the process currently being debugged without leaving Developer Studio to find it in a process list.
A color picker opens the standard Windows color dialog and inserts the selected color into source code in RGB(r,g,b) or 0x00RRGGBB form. Its picker tool can also be dragged onto another window to sample a displayed color. These options support coding tasks where colors need to be selected visually and represented directly in code.
The add-in can insert generated tags into a source file immediately before compilation, without modifying the original file. Available values include build number, source or header filename, directory, date and time, selected line number, project file and main directory, project name, build configuration and project type. It can also insert an environment string or the output of a console application. Custom DLL files can handle tags the add-in does not recognize, allowing projects to define additional generated values.
MS Developer Studio AddIn is trialware and requires Microsoft Developer Studio 5.0 or 6.0 to be installed. It is designed for the older Developer Studio environment and its project workflow, including DSP project files; it is not a standalone editor or a replacement for the IDE. Its tools are aimed at maintaining and building C and C++ projects in those versions of Developer Studio.
