Easy Hi-Q Recorder is a Windows audio recording utility for capturing sound from playback devices, applications, microphones and external sources. It can record internet radio, webcasts, music players, games, DVDs and other audio playing on a computer, as well as input from sources such as tapes, records, radios and microphones. The program is intended for everyday recording and digitizing tasks, from saving a broadcast to making voice notes or creating audio for a podcast.
Recordings can be saved directly as MP3, WMA, WAV or OGG Vorbis files. MP3 output supports constant or variable bit rates, and the available quality settings span low-bandwidth mono recordings through stereo audio above CD quality. This range lets users choose settings suited to the source and intended use, whether they need a compact file for a portable player or a higher-quality copy for listening and editing. Easy Hi-Q Recorder captures audio in real time; when recording a video broadcast or sound from a video player, it saves the audio rather than the picture.
A built-in timer can start recordings once or on a daily or weekly schedule, useful for broadcasts that air at a particular time. Sound and voice activation can begin recording when audio is detected and create separate files for new songs or other detected sounds. Silence detection and removal, file splitting and automatic file naming help organize longer sessions and reduce manual cleanup. A built-in player provides a way to listen to recordings within the program.
The recorder can also be used to digitize analog audio from LPs, cassette tapes and other connected equipment, or to capture lectures, meetings and personal voice notes. Saved files can be used for podcasts or transferred to portable music players. Since it records whatever audio is routed through the computer or connected input, the source setup determines what can be captured; recording a webcast or media player does not produce a video file.
Easy Hi-Q Recorder is trialware. The supplied compatibility information covers Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10, including several 64-bit editions. It is designed around a straightforward Record workflow while providing scheduling and audio-triggered options for users who need more control over when recordings begin and how files are divided.
