Skeez for Windows 10 - Full description

Skeez is a Graphics32-based component for Delphi developers who want to add animated list views and item browsers to Windows applications. Rather than serving as a standalone file or media viewer, it provides libraries and derived classes for building custom interfaces that display files, images, audio tracks, drives, and other objects. Applications can use these views to make browsing content more visual and interactive.

Its specialized viewers cover common browsing tasks. A filesystem browser can show animated icons and support virtual objects, while a picture list can display large thumbnails and image previews. Image reading uses FreeImage.dll, which enables previews for a range of image formats. Developers can adapt the derived classes for filesystem browsing or add items manually, depending on how their application represents its content.

For audio collections, Skeez can read available tags and show details alongside each list item. Supported tagging formats include ID3v1 and ID3v2, MP4, APEv2, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, FLAC, WMA, and WAV. Depending on the file's metadata, a viewer can present information such as album, copyright owner, genre, rating, play count, musical key, or bitrate. The package also supports animated drive lists, including system disks, removable drives, and network locations.

The component's appearance can be adjusted, including display settings and background colors, so list views can fit the surrounding application interface. Separate demo compilations let developers inspect and test the available behavior before integrating it. Included documentation covers initial setup and configuration, providing a starting point for installing the component and working with its examples.

Skeez is intended for development environments that support Delphi and Graphics32, and Graphics32 must be installed separately before the component can function. It is offered as shareware: use in freeware applications is permitted, while integrating it into a shareware program requires a purchased license. The package is for Windows development; supported Windows editions include Windows 10 and 11, as well as earlier Windows releases.
