CS 80V is a software synthesizer that recreates the sound architecture of the Yamaha CS-80. Its engine combines two oscillators, high- and low-pass filters, envelopes, LFOs, VCAs, a sub-oscillator and ring modulation with chorus, tremolo and delay. Eight-voice Multi Mode assigns a different sound to each voice, while a modulation matrix and polyphonic aftertouch support expressive, detailed performances. More than 400 presets offer starting points for playing or editing.

CS 80V is a software synthesizer that recreates the sound architecture of the Yamaha CS-80, a polyphonic instrument associated with late-1970s electronic and popular music. It is designed for musicians, composers and sound designers who want to create expressive keyboard sounds in a digital music-production setup. The instrument combines familiar subtractive synthesis controls with performance features that let players shape notes as they perform.
Its sound engine includes two oscillators, high-pass and low-pass filters, envelopes, low-frequency oscillators and voltage-controlled amplifiers. These components can be adjusted to build sounds ranging from sustained, layered tones to sharper, moving patches. A sub-oscillator, ring modulator, chorus and tremolo provide additional ways to alter the source and add movement or texture. A delay effect extends the instrument's original sound-shaping options with echoes and repeats.
The eight-voice polyphony can be used in Multi Mode, where each voice can have a different sound. This supports layered or split-style arrangements within a single instrument. A modulation matrix connects 12 sources to a choice of 38 destination parameters, giving sound designers a way to route performance or modulation signals to different parts of a patch. The arpeggiator generates note patterns from played chords, while polyphonic aftertouch allows pressure on individual held notes to influence a performance. Expression and sustain pedal support and a ribbon controller add further hands-on control.
More than 400 presets provide starting points for playing or editing, including sounds created by established sound designers. Presets can be useful when a project needs a quick keyboard part, or as examples of how the synthesis controls interact. Musicians can also build and refine their own patches, using the instrument's modulation and performance controls to create distinctive leads, pads, basses and other synthesizer parts. Its recreation of a classic instrument's controls makes it relevant both to users seeking that particular character and to those exploring vintage-style synthesis.
CS 80V is offered as demo software and runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. The sound engine uses 64-bit floating-point precision and supports sampling rates up to 96 kHz. It is intended for use as a virtual instrument in a music-making workflow; a compatible host and audio setup are typically needed to play it alongside other software instruments and recordings. The controls and synthesis features provide a substantial range for experimentation, while the preset library offers an accessible way to begin.
