FileBox eXtender (x64 bit) for Windows 10 - Full description

FileBox eXtender is a Windows utility for people who want more control over desktop windows and the standard file dialogs used to open and save documents. It adds controls to supported top-level windows and common file-management dialogs, making it easier to keep a reference visible, free up desktop space, or work with folders containing many files. Its additions work alongside the controls already provided by Windows rather than replacing the applications that use them.

A push-pin button keeps a selected window in front of other windows. This is useful when working in one application while referring to information in another, such as keeping a document visible while composing an email. The pinned window remains on top, reducing the need to switch back and forth or repeatedly bring it to the foreground. Clicking the control again lets the window return to normal desktop behavior.

A roll-up button collapses a window so that only its title bar remains visible. This exposes more of the desktop or the windows behind it without closing the application or losing the current task. The window can be restored by clicking the button again. These window controls are intended for top-level windows that support the added buttons.

FileBox eXtender also adds buttons to standard Windows Open File and Save File dialogs, placing them in the dialog title bar beside the familiar minimize, restore, and maximize controls. It can enlarge these standard file dialogs, which provides more room to browse folders and inspect file lists when selecting or saving files. The added controls do not appear in applications that use their own private file dialogs instead of the standard Windows dialogs.

The utility is intended for 64-bit Windows and is open source. Its stated supported systems include Windows 10 x64 and several earlier 64-bit Windows releases; Windows 11 support is not established here. FileBox eXtender is most useful for users who frequently switch between applications, want to keep a window visible while working elsewhere, or need more space when browsing files in standard open and save dialogs.
