Satsuki Decoder Pack for Windows 10 - Full description

Satsuki Decoder Pack is a Windows collection of audio and video filters and decoders for playing a broad range of media formats. It is intended for people whose media player cannot open certain files or who want a single installation to provide support for common video, audio, DVD and subtitle formats. The package also includes Media Player Classic Home Cinema, giving users a player alongside the decoding components.

The pack brings together format-specific components to handle files such as DivX, Xvid, H.264, MPEG-2, RealMedia, AVI, OGM and MP4. Audio decoding covers formats including AC3, DTS, AAC, FLAC, APE, OFR and TTA. Subtitle support is provided by VSFilter. These components work behind the scenes in compatible media players, allowing them to read media that would otherwise fail to open or play without sound, video or subtitles.

A configuration panel lets users enable or disable individual filters, adjust their settings, save a backup of filter configuration and associate media file types with a chosen player. During installation, the pack checks whether the operating system is compatible and whether a newer release is available. It can also set associations for video, audio and DVD files, so supported media opens in the selected player. Users can revise those choices through the configuration panel rather than reinstalling the pack.

The installer is divided into the main decoder pack and optional Windows Media and QuickTime modules. The Windows Media module is intended for systems without Windows Media Player or its components. A QuickTime alternative is relevant for playing QuickTime streams without installing QuickTime; users who already have QuickTime do not need that alternative. These optional components address specific playback needs and are not required for every installation.

The pack is freeware and is designed for Windows, with Windows 10 included among its supported operating systems. The supplied compatibility information does not include Windows 11, so support on newer systems should not be assumed. It is not intended for macOS, Linux, phones or standalone hardware players. A silent installation can reuse a saved settings file, which is useful for repeat setups or managed deployments; file associations may fall back to defaults if a preferred player is unavailable.
