Firefox 22 for Windows 10 - Full description
Firefox is a free web browser from Mozilla, a nonprofit organization focused on an open and accessible web. It is designed for everyday browsing, research and managing multiple websites at once. Its interface brings tabs, bookmarks and navigation controls together, while the location bar helps users return to sites without needing to remember their exact addresses.
The Awesome Bar searches as a person types, drawing possible matches from browsing history, bookmarks and currently open tabs. Its suggestions adapt to browsing habits, and privacy settings provide control over results. When a typed address or search matches a site already open, Switch-to-Tab directs the user to that tab instead of creating a duplicate. The combined reload and stop control provides a single way to refresh a page or halt loading.
Tabbed browsing keeps each site in the same window and makes switching between pages a one-click task. App Tabs give frequently used sites, such as webmail, a fixed place on the tab bar. Panorama offers a visual way to sort tabs into named groups: users can move tabs between groups and arrange them to separate projects or browsing tasks. Recently Closed Tabs and Recently Closed Windows in the History menu make it possible to restore pages after closing them by mistake.
The interface places tabs above the location bar, with menu commands gathered in the Firefox button on Windows and Linux. A bookmark button provides access to saved links, and the Home button sits beside the search field. Smooth scrolling helps when moving through a large collection of open tabs. Together, these controls suit users who keep several sites open, revisit familiar pages or want to organize browsing by task.
Firefox is freeware and was offered in more than 70 languages through contributions from the Mozilla community. The operating-system information for this release lists Windows XP, Vista and 7, along with Windows 8, including the indicated 64-bit editions. It does not list Windows 10 or Windows 11, so compatibility with those systems should not be assumed. The program is a browser for accessing websites; its historical Windows requirements make it distinct from current Firefox releases.
