Norton Security with Backup combines device security with online file backup for households that use several PCs and other personal devices. It is intended for families who want protection for computers alongside security and privacy safeguards for smartphones and tablets. The package also includes protection for Macs, while its backup feature is aimed at PC files. This mix makes it relevant to homes where important documents, photos and contacts are spread across devices and need different forms of protection.
The security component helps protect PCs and Macs from online threats. Separate protections are intended for smartphones and tablets, addressing risks such as loss and privacy exposure. In practice, this lets a household cover different kinds of devices through one product rather than relying on a PC-focused antivirus alone. Each device can receive protection suited to its type, while the package is designed to accommodate changes in a family's collection of devices.
For PCs, the service includes 25 GB of online storage for backups. Files can be backed up automatically, encrypted and stored online, helping preserve important material if a computer is damaged, its drive fails or the device goes missing. The backup feature is useful for personal files such as documents and family photos that may be difficult or impossible to replace. Online storage provides an additional copy separate from the computer itself, though it does not replace the need to choose which files matter and keep them organized.
The coverage is intended to adapt as devices change, allowing protection to be moved from one device to another as household needs evolve. This can suit families replacing a computer or adding a device, as well as people who want security and backup in the same package. Its combination of multi-device protection and PC backup is aimed at everyday home use rather than managing a business network.
Norton Security with Backup is trialware from Symantec. It supports Windows versions through Windows 10, including 64-bit editions where listed; Windows 11 support is not established here. The package also targets Macs, smartphones and tablets, but supported models and operating-system requirements can vary. Its online backup allocation is 25 GB, so users with larger collections of files may need to prioritize what is stored. Availability of security and backup services can depend on an active subscription and the service's current terms.
