ServerDefender VP is a web application firewall for sites and applications hosted on Microsoft IIS. It inspects GET and POST requests and applies configurable controls to block threats such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting, request forgery, brute-force attempts and denial-of-service activity. Session safeguards, real-time traffic monitoring, detailed logs and URL- and field-specific exceptions help administrators investigate attacks while limiting false positives. It is trialware.

ServerDefender VP is a web application firewall for sites and applications running on Microsoft IIS. It examines incoming HTTP requests and applies configurable security rules to help block attacks before they reach an application. It is intended for administrators responsible for protecting IIS-hosted services, reviewing suspicious traffic and managing web application security. Its protections are designed to address common threats such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), cross-site request forgery (CSRF), buffer overflows, brute-force attempts and denial-of-service activity.
The firewall inspects both GET and POST request data using configurable controls, rather than relying only on attack signatures. Administrators can adjust policies to match an application's expected requests and block data patterns associated with attacks. This approach is intended to provide protection against known and emerging attack techniques, while allowing rules to be tailored to individual sites. Session protections use ServerDefender VP's own session and monitoring cookies to help detect or prevent session hijacking and reduce risks associated with vulnerable or orphaned sessions.
Monitoring tools provide an overview of site status and common attack activity. HTTP traffic can be observed and analyzed in real time, with the product designed to work without major changes to existing infrastructure. Its LogViewer records blocked requests and vulnerability details, including the time, attack type, source and reason a request was stopped. Administrators can use this information to investigate incidents, identify weak points and communicate findings for remediation. Reporting can also help expose sensitive data fields that may need masking for regulatory or privacy requirements.
Security rules can be adjusted to reduce false positives. When legitimate traffic is blocked, an administrator can create an exception in LogViewer for a particular URL and field rather than broadly weakening protection for the whole site. This makes the tool useful for maintaining a balance between blocking malicious requests and keeping application workflows operational as sites change. The monitoring and logs also support routine security reviews, troubleshooting and investigation of repeated attempts against a web application.
ServerDefender VP is trialware and is built for use with Microsoft IIS; it is not a general-purpose network firewall. The available operating-system information covers older Windows releases, so suitability for a particular Windows system should be checked before installation. Its controls and reports are most relevant to IIS administrators who need application-level request filtering, session safeguards and detailed visibility into web attacks.
