VapourBox 1.2.0

A visual toolkit for VapourSynth video processing

VapourBox is a graphical frontend for VapourSynth that lets users process video without entering commands in the Windows console. Open a clip by browsing or dragging it into the interface, then use the timeline and before-and-after player to inspect filter changes. Tools include deinterlacing, noise reduction, sharpening, chroma and color correction, cropping, resizing, and filters for compression artifacts. It handles individual clips rather than batch jobs.

VapourBox for Windows 10 - Full description

VapourBox is a graphical frontend for VapourSynth, intended for people who want to use its video-processing tools without working directly in the Windows console. It combines video loading, filter controls and preview playback in a single interface, making common enhancement tasks more accessible while retaining VapourSynth as its processing foundation. The program is suited to users adjusting individual clips rather than managing batch jobs, which it does not support.

A clip can be opened by dragging it into the main window or browsing for a file. VapourBox supports common formats including AVI, MOV, MP4, MKV, MXF, MPG, MPEG, M2V, WEBM, FLV, MTS, M2TS, DV, TS and VOB. Its embedded player includes a timeline for moving through the footage, while a before-and-after layout helps compare the source with filter changes during preview. This makes it easier to inspect a particular scene or frame before settling on adjustments.

The toolbox covers several kinds of restoration and enhancement. Deinterlacing can turn interlaced footage into progressive video, including through QTGMC processing. Noise reduction helps clean up grain or other unwanted variation, while sharpening can bring out detail. Separate tools address chroma problems and color distortion. For footage affected by compression, Deblock, Dehalo and Deband filters target blocking, halos and banding. Cropping and resizing are available for changing the visible frame and dimensions.

Color controls provide adjustments for brightness, contrast, saturation and hue. These can be used alongside the restoration filters to correct a clip's appearance, with the player providing a way to check the combined effect as the timeline is explored. VapourBox therefore serves a range of single-video tasks, from cleaning up older interlaced material to reducing noise, correcting color and preparing footage for a different frame size. Its controls offer a visual alternative to entering VapourSynth commands, though users may need some familiarity with video-filter concepts to choose appropriate settings.

VapourBox is open source and runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. It does not require installation, so it can be launched directly. The interface is focused on processing and previewing one video at a time rather than queueing multiple files; users looking for batch conversion or a full timeline-based editing suite should account for that narrower workflow.
