EF Commander for Windows 10 - Full description

EF Commander is a dual-pane file manager for people who want to organize files, work with archives, and transfer data through a single Windows application. Its tabbed panes let users keep several folder views open at once, making it easier to compare directories and move or copy items between locations. The interface can be customized with different colors, fonts, icons, columns, and keyboard shortcuts, so frequent tasks can be arranged around individual workflows.

File operations can run in parallel, and filters help narrow the items shown or processed. A synchronization function compares folders and helps bring their contents into line, while the Multi-Rename Tool applies consistent name changes across groups of files. For large transfers or storage limits, the split and merge tools divide files into smaller parts and reassemble them later. EF Commander can also create and verify checksums in formats including SFV, MD5, BLAKE3, and SHA, useful for checking whether files have changed or arrived intact.

The built-in FTP, SFTP, FTPS, and SCP client supports secure connections, resumed downloads, and FxP server-to-server transfers. Its archive tools handle a broad range of formats, including ZIP, 7-Zip, RAR, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, CAB, ISO, and others, without requiring separate unpacking software for supported formats. An internal viewer opens many file types, and optional XnView or IrfanView add-ons extend image-format support. A text and hexadecimal editor, UUE/XXE/MIME encoding and decoding, and line-ending conversion for Macintosh, DOS, and UNIX files add tools for inspecting and preparing data.

The program also includes external plug-in support for packers, viewers, file systems, and content handlers. Users can burn CDs and DVDs through integration with Nero Burning ROM, manage active applications from a task list, or stop unresponsive processes. These functions make EF Commander useful for routine file organization as well as archive handling, remote transfers, checksum verification, and maintenance of mixed collections of documents and media.

EF Commander is shareware and is intended for Windows. It supports a wide selection of interface languages, and its system requirement is a typical Windows installation. Disc burning requires Nero Burning ROM; optional image-viewer add-ons are needed to extend the built-in viewer's format coverage. The dual-pane layout and extensive tools suit users who prefer a configurable file manager with local and network file operations in one workspace.
