SIP Communicator for Windows (x64 bit) for Windows 10 - Full description
Jitsi, originally known as SIP Communicator, is an open-source desktop communicator for internet voice and video calls, instant messaging, and file transfer. It is intended for people who need to connect through established messaging and telephony networks from one application. Rather than requiring every contact to use the same service, Jitsi can work with multiple supported accounts and display their contacts in a shared client.
The program supports SIP for internet telephony and XMPP/Jabber for messaging and calls, including services that use XMPP such as Google Talk. Other supported networks include AIM, ICQ, MSN or Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Bonjour, and IRC. Users can add accounts for the services they use, then start conversations or calls from the contact list. SIP-specific tools include DTMF tones for navigating phone menus, secure signalling through TLS, and message-waiting indications where supported by the service.
For private communication, Jitsi offers Off-the-Record messaging encryption and SRTP or ZRTP call encryption. It can store account passwords in encrypted form and protect them with a master password. Additional features support everyday communication workflows: call history and missed-call notifications help track conversations, while drag-and-drop file transfer makes it possible to send files from the desktop. Contact and account management options include LDAP directory support, online contact-list storage using XCAP, and provisioning tools for centrally supplied settings.
Jitsi also supports IPv6 for SIP and XMPP and can discover provisioning servers through DHCP or Bonjour. It can integrate with Microsoft Outlook and Apple Address Book, and provide system-tray notifications through supported notification systems. Its Java implementation uses the OSGi architecture, which makes the application extensible. Available functions can depend on the protocol, service, and configuration in use; some capabilities may not be present in every setup.
The application is open source and is distributed for 64-bit Windows systems, with Windows 10 x64 among the supported systems. It is a desktop client for users who want one place to manage compatible messaging accounts and internet calls, rather than a service that supplies its own calling network. Its support for several older messaging networks makes it particularly relevant to existing accounts and deployments that still use those protocols.
