BestSync Portable is a file synchronization and backup utility for people who need to move or maintain data across PCs, removable drives, network storage and FTP servers. It can also handle Outlook and Windows Mail data, making it useful for users who work on more than one computer and want a repeatable way to keep selected files or mail information available in each location.
Synchronization jobs can copy changed files between folders, computers, NAS devices, shared network locations and FTP servers. By transferring only updated files, BestSync can reduce transfer time and network traffic. For FTP transfers, it supports multithreaded segmented downloads and can resume interrupted transfers from the last breakpoint. Proxy support allows FTP synchronization through a proxy server, including in environments where a firewall restricts direct access.
For portable workflows, a USB drive can serve as the link between home and office computers. BestSync places updated files on the drive and can encrypt and compress them; on another PC, the synchronized data is decrypted and unpacked. Folders can also be synchronized with ZIP files protected by password-based encryption. Outlook synchronization covers items such as mail, contacts and schedules, while Outlook backup can use MAPI to copy new mail and contacts to another storage location with encryption.
Backup jobs can run on a schedule and target external disks, network volumes, NAS storage or FTP. The program supports incremental and full backups, keeps historical versions, and can use Windows Volume Shadow Copy to copy files that are open or locked. Real-time synchronization can respond to file changes as they occur. Filtering, a preview window and logs help users review what a job will transfer and check its results. For website publishing, BestSync can upload changed files through FTP, remove deleted files from the destination and support FrontPage.
BestSync can also run as a Windows service, so configured jobs do not require a user to be logged in. These features suit personal backups, transfers between work and home PCs, keeping shared company folders consistent and publishing updated website content. The software is trialware, and its listed Windows compatibility includes Windows XP through Windows 11. The Portable edition is intended for use without treating the program as a fixed-installation-only workflow; storage destinations and synchronization jobs still need to be configured for the files and systems involved.
