NumberingStar is a PDF numbering and imposition application for commercial printers and other users producing printed items that need sequential or repeated numbers. It takes an existing PDF and generates a new, numbered PDF arranged multiple-up on the page. The output can be prepared as collated sets for printing, trimming and binding, reducing the need to arrange pages manually in a separate layout application.
Number sequences can include blanks and repeats, allowing the layout to match jobs where every number does not appear in a simple uninterrupted run. This is useful for products such as raffle tickets, concert tickets, invoices and order books, where numbers must follow a chosen pattern across sheets or finished sets. Collation controls determine how pages are ordered so that printed copies can be gathered into complete sets ready for finishing.
Page layout settings include trim and gutter controls, which help position the imposed artwork for cutting and separation. NumberingStar can also handle double-sided printing layouts. It detects the PDF trim box to help place bleed and trim areas accurately, an important consideration when the finished item is cut down from a larger printed sheet. Number styles can be customized with different fonts and colors to fit the visual design of the original job.
The application is intended for print production workflows, but its PDF-based input and output can also suit smaller organizations creating numbered forms, tickets or other sequentially identified materials. A prepared PDF can be passed to a printer or used in a compatible PDF printing workflow, while the imposition and numbering are handled before printing.
NumberingStar is commercial trialware. The supplied platform information covers older Windows releases through Windows 8, so compatibility with Windows 10 or Windows 11 should be checked before installation. Its compact installer is approximately 1.1 MB.
