MobaXterm 10.2 review by CL (Apr 12, 2017)
Very Good Software

MobaXterm combines a tabbed terminal, an Xorg-based X server and network clients in one portable Windows application. It supports SSH with X11 forwarding, along with RDP, VNC, Telnet, rlogin, SFTP and FTP connections. Terminal macros help automate repeated input, while DISPLAY export supports graphical applications running on remote hosts. The single executable runs without installation and can be carried on a USB drive.

MobaXterm is a portable Windows terminal and network-tools suite for users who connect to remote computers or run graphical Unix and Linux applications from Windows. It brings command-line access, remote connection clients and an X server together in one executable, making it useful for system administrators, developers and technical users who work across local and remote environments.
Its tab-based terminal keeps multiple command-line sessions in one window. The built-in X server supports graphical applications running on remote hosts, while SSH X11 forwarding carries their display output back to the Windows desktop. DISPLAY export helps configure that connection, and antialiased fonts make terminal text easier to read. Macro support can automate repeated terminal input.
MobaXterm includes clients for SSH, RDP, VNC, Telnet, rlogin, SFTP and FTP. These provide ways to access remote shells, desktops and file-transfer services from the same application. The integrated X server is based on Xorg, so users can launch compatible remote graphical programs without setting up a separate X server. Keeping sessions in tabs helps organize work across several hosts and connection types.
The single-file portable design runs without installation and can be carried on a USB drive. This suits technicians who need a consistent set of connection tools on different Windows computers, as well as users who want terminal, file-transfer and X11 capabilities in one place. MobaXterm is freeware and is available in English and French. The supplied system requirements are not restrictive, and the program supports Windows environments including Windows 10.
