Adobe AIR Launchpad is a desktop project-generation tool for Adobe Flex developers building applications for Adobe AIR. It creates a starter project based on the capabilities selected in its interface, giving developers a prepared code and folder structure to use as the foundation for an application rather than beginning with an empty project.
The workflow starts by choosing the features the project should include. Launchpad adds implementations of those capabilities to the generated application, where they can be inspected, modified and extended. The result is a ready-to-compile AIR project, intended to help developers move from a feature selection to a working development starting point.
Launchpad also creates a ZIP archive in the parent folder. That archive can be imported directly into Adobe Flash Builder, providing a convenient route into an existing Flex development workflow. When automatic updating is selected, the project includes a server subfolder with an XML file for controlling updates from a server. Selecting an install badge adds a separate install_badge folder containing the files needed to create the badge.
The tool is aimed at developers prototyping or setting up desktop AIR applications, particularly those who want common project capabilities and supporting files generated together. Its output is not a finished application: developers can use the generated source as a base, then tailor the implementation and complete the build in their development environment.
Adobe AIR Launchpad is freeware and is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11, as well as earlier Windows releases. It is a project-creation utility for the Adobe Flex and AIR development workflow, not a general-purpose editor or the AIR runtime itself.
