remotly is a remote-access application from Mirillis for connecting to a computer and using its installed programs from another location. It is aimed in particular at people who want to reach a gaming PC, but it can also be used to open applications and work with documents or projects on the remote machine. The host computer runs the remotly Client, while the person connecting signs in to the app with a Mirillis account.
To prepare a computer for access, the Client must be installed on that host, remote access enabled and credentials added. The connection ID shown on the server side is used to identify the computer. After logging in, remotly can locate the configured device; additional computers can be set up in the same way and found by refreshing the device list. This setup requires some configuration on both the host and connecting side.
For games, remotly switches to game mode after a game is opened on the host. The remote session supports mouse and keyboard input, and fullscreen mode gives the game the display area. In this mode, the mouse is confined to the remote computer's video area. Windowed mode is also available, with dedicated hotkeys for switching modes, which can be useful when checking an email or monitoring another task while a game is running.
Outside gaming, the remote connection provides access to applications, documents and projects stored on the host computer. This makes remotly useful for reaching a home PC while away, opening work already in progress, or using software installed only on that machine.
