Xlight FTP Server Professional x64 is a Windows FTP server for organizations and administrators who need to provide file-transfer access to multiple users. It is designed to handle many simultaneous client connections while using relatively little CPU and memory. The Professional edition removes the online-user limit and includes the server's main features; the optional SFTP over SSH2 feature is not included in this edition.
For identity management, the server can authenticate accounts through Active Directory or an LDAP directory, and user settings can be stored in either directory. It can also retrieve account settings and passwords from an external database through ODBC, with stored-procedure support for connecting to existing database workflows. To protect FTP sessions, it supports 128-bit SSL and client-certificate authentication. Administrators can configure multiple virtual servers on the same IP address, allowing separate services to share a host.
Access controls are based on virtual paths. Native user isolation keeps each account's paths separate, while public paths are visible to all users and group paths are limited to members of a group. These options let administrators organize shared and restricted folders without relying solely on locking users into a home directory. For network storage, UNC path impersonation lets the server use an account to access password-protected shares. Configuration changes take effect in real time, without restarting the service.
Administration and monitoring tools support ongoing server operations. A graphical remote administration interface can manage the server over an open FTP control port, avoiding the need to expose a separate administration port through a firewall. Session and error logs help diagnose connection and server issues; transfers can also be recorded in UNIX xferlog format or stored in an external database through ODBC. Email notifications can report events such as uploads, downloads, deletions, and low disk space, giving administrators a way to track activity and storage concerns.
The software is suited to businesses and other environments that need controlled FTP access, directory-based authentication, centralized user records, or detailed transfer auditing. Its Professional license is trialware. The x64 edition is intended for 64-bit Windows; Windows 10 x64 is among the supported systems. SFTP should not be treated as an available transfer option in this edition, since it is an optional feature excluded from Professional.
