IE DownloadHelper is a Windows utility for saving video and audio found on webpages. It is intended for people who want to keep online media as local files or convert it for use in a preferred format. Its focus is on retrieving media from free download sites rather than managing a broader collection of downloads.
The application detects or retrieves video and audio content from webpages and provides a way to convert that media. A typical workflow is to open a page containing media, use the utility to obtain the available content, and choose a suitable output format for conversion. The converted file can then be stored locally and played with software that supports that format.
IE DownloadHelper combines media retrieval and format conversion in one small utility. This can be useful when a downloaded file needs to be changed into a format supported by a particular player or device. It is aimed at straightforward tasks involving individual web videos or audio, rather than advanced editing or media-library organization.
The program is freeware and is intended for Windows. Its stated system support includes Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10, including some 64-bit editions. Availability of media depends on the webpage and its access restrictions. Users should respect copyright and only retrieve or convert material they are permitted to use.
