GIMP is a free, open-source image editor for Windows x64, used for photo retouching, digital painting and creating or editing graphics. Painting tools include brushes, a pencil, an airbrush and a clone tool for copying pixels to repair or alter an image. Gradient and blend controls help create smooth color transitions, while custom brushes and patterns can be saved for reuse. Paint tools support sub-pixel sampling for smoother edges. For photo work, layers and channels allow edits to be organized separately, and alpha-channel support preserves transparency. Multiple undo and redo steps make it easier to test changes and return to an earlier state.
